NSPA Listserv
Our interactive members' only listserv is a benefit of membership.
The listserv is maintained through yahoogroups. It allows members to
post to each other, as well as to receive important updates from the
NSPA board. Messages are typically sent in a digest format, where
you receive all messages from any one day in bulk. This option is
useful if you do not want too many emails and would prefer to just
browse topics to see if there is anything of interest before reading
the email. If you prefer to receive individual emails from the list,
the listserv owner can reset this option for you.
You will automatically become a member of the listserv upon joining
NSPA as a new member, or renewing your membership. We will
automatically add you to our NSPA members' only listserv. Again
though, to be on the listserv requires active membership,
which means your membership must be paid for the year. As such,
there may be a period of up to two weeks until we confirm your
membership information and payment for membership.
Once you are joined, you will receive an email welcoming you to the
listserv and giving you some information on how to use the listserv.
It will basically provide you some summary information as follows:
To post messages to the listserv send an email to
NSPA_Members@yahoogroups.com
(that is NSPA_Members at yahoogroups.com). Questions about the
listserv can be directed to the list owner at
NSPA_Members-owner@yahoogroups.com
(which is NSPA_Members-owner at yahoo.com).
What is appropriate to post on the listserv?
The listserv is useful for finding professional consultation, for
making and receiving referrals, and as a community networking tool.
We generally post things that are considered to be of benefit to the
general membership of NSPA.
What is not appropriate for the listserv?
Our relationship to the California Psychological Association brings
with it some restrictions on listserv use. Generally the listserv is
not an appropriate place for: endorsements of any candidate for any
political office; any fund raising for political purposes; any discussion
of fees. They also are not places where any individual would do business
that is solely for their financial benefit (e.g., sending personal
advertising or advertising for one's business). Note too - they are
not the place to seek any kind of detailed consultation advice on any
specific case or situation.
I am a member and I am not sure if I am on the listserv.
What can I do?
You can try sending an email to NSPA_Members@yahoogroups.com
(that is NSPA_Members at yahoogroups.com) and if you are on the list,
you will see it post within 24 hours. If it does not, send a message
to the list owner at
NSPA_Members-owner@yahoogroups.com
(that is NSPA_Members-owners at yahoo.com). Alternatively, you can
send a blank email message to
NSPA_Members-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
(that is NSPA_Members-subscribe at yahoo.com) and if your membership is current, the listserv owner will add you to the list if you are not already there, or they will update your email address.
If they find your membership is not current, they will let you know and, once it is up to date, they will then add you to the listserv.
How do I find out if I am a member?
Send an email to
NapaSolanoPA@gmail.com
with Question to the "Membership Chair" in the subject line. Then
write the questions you have in the email and we will promise a
response within 7 business days or sooner.
Why must things take so long for turn around?
NSPA is a professional organization run by a community volunteers
who are our members. The more members we have, the more resources
and services we have and can offer. Any member can get involved
and help. We welcome your membership and participation in making
the NSPA community strong! If there is some way you would like to
get involved, please just send an email to
NapaSolanoPA@gmail.com
and we will work with you.
